The art of woodworking begins with an appreciation for nature. KoNo Designs specializes in working with Mesquite hardwood which is responsibly harvested in the desert Southwest.

The creative process is initiated with a draft of the work as a pencil sketch. Form and function are balanced with proportion and stylistic elements. From the draft the selection of wood takes the work forward.

An artistic eye for color, graining pattern and layout are prerequisite to the hand selection of material. Sophistication is achieved as simplicity in design compliments the “exotic” qualities of coloring, knots, cracks and imperfections that enhance each piece of Mesquite wood.

Patience in the true spirit of handmade craftsmanship is vital. Attention to detail is paramount in the joinery and the signature artistic accents of ebony and ivory define the timeless work of the artisan.
