Dale Konow, Artisit

Life By Design

Dale Konow is proud to be a fourth generation Arizona native. Born and raised in rural Buckeye, Arizona; he has a genuine respect for the pioneer spirit that brought his ancestors to the Southwest. From a “family of builders” his values of hard work and strength of character are bridged to the past.

As a gifted high school athlete he earned a football scholarship that took him from Arizona to the campus of Western New Mexico University and on to play two years of professional football. His passion for sports taught him the importance of teamwork and a reverence for competition.

With an adventurous disposition he traveled to Alaska to work on the Alaskan pipeline. While living in Alaska his woodworking talent was showcased in gunstock carving. Choosing French and Claro walnut wood for his one-of-a-kind gunstocks, the artistry of “checkering” and inlay produced unique pieces intrinsic to the hunting lifestyle of the “Last Frontier”.

The tropics became his next home when he moved to Kona Hawaii. Inspired by the “islands” he began creating furniture from Hawaii’s native Koa wood. With time his woodworking developed into the creation of custom aquariums made from Koa wood which were architectural standouts in both residential homes and commercial buildings.

Dale found his home roots of Arizona calling when he moved from Hawaii to the mainland. As a building contractor for over twenty years he specializes in historical renovations to commercial buildings as well as residential construction. His home and studio are in the historic “Old Wolf” building in Buckeye. It is here that he has established his Mesquite woodworking business.

With admiration for both Native American and Arizona history, Dale has learned invaluable lessons that underscore his woodworking…Authenticity, dedication and meeting life on your own terms.
